Driving License Category A1
Driving License Category A1 permits you to drive motorized two-wheeled vehicles. It permits the use of mopeds or small motorcycles with an engine power of less than 11 kW.
The procedure to obtain this type of license is slightly different than other categories. Let's take a look at the steps.
Prerequisites
A driving license category is only available to those who are at least 16 years of age. This licence allows you to drive light motorcycles while categories A2 and A are designed for larger motor vehicles. You must also take an emergency course and complete theoretical training in accordance with the entire program. This is offered through a variety of driving schools. All driving schools follow the same curriculum, even if their fees might differ.
The practical training consists up of a number of driving lessons. The lessons run between 3 and 4 hours. Anyone who wants drive vehicles in category C must have an driving licence that is a category B or higher. Anyone who has a category B licence can continue with the training of category A1 by following an abbreviated curriculum but must pass the minimum requirement of 10 theory and ten driving lessons at an instructor. This is not feasible for those who has an A category licence, and that is why the instruction for this category begins at an earlier age.
Driving License Category A1 is an excellent option for teens who wish to drive of their own car, or for those who have been driving for a long time, but are seeking a new way to commute. The restrictions of this kind of license are designed to ensure safety for everyone. However, they may be lifted if you prove that you have the capacity to safely operate larger vehicles.
You must possess a valid medical certificate in addition to your driver's license. Depending on your medical condition you might be required to take an eye examination or other tests. Training
To get a Driving License Category A1, you must pass both the theory and practical test. You must also attend a theory class and receive training. It is important to remember that if you're a minor, you'll need the signed consent of your guardian in order to be able to apply for a Driving License Category A1. In Belgium, you can only drive a moped or a motorcycle with three or four wheels if you have an entire category A licence. You are only able to drive motorcycles in the full category A1 if you hold a full A2 or A2 licence. In other countries, it's possible to gain easier access to a higher licence category by first gaining experience driving smaller-powered motorcycles. Theory test
The Driving License Category A1 exam is a two-part exam that includes a theory and an actual part. The test is designed to provide you with a basic understanding and knowledge of the highway code. Practical test
